Reinforcing seams at centre pack of pants

If you have children or a husband who keeps splitting the centre back seam on pants, try reinforcing a different way.  To do this reinforcement, you need to have the seams open.  In other words, the seams sit on either side, and are over locked.  Resew the seam, then push all the fabric from the body of the pants to the left.  Keep one the seam on the right at the right hand side.  Stitch down on the left hand side just beside the original centre back seam.  You should be sewing over the top of the left seam, which will be covering the original centre back seam.  Its hard to explain, but have a try.  When you are finished you should not be able to see the first seam joining the backs together, and the new reinforced seam will force the seams open.

Happy sewing
