Looking after your overlock or serger

When you use the over locker or serger for a while, the fluff from the garments will accumulate inside the machine.  I always use my vacumn cleaner to get rid of the bulk of the fluff when I vacumn the house.  Make sure that the tension is on for the threads, and don’t put the hose any where near the threads at the top.  Open up the door to the inside of the machine and put the thin house in and vacumn the dust away.

If there is still some fluff, use some tweezers to get the rest out, and/or use a cotton bud to get rid of the fluff.  There is a product you can buy called “Clear away” or “Spray away” something like that.  Its in a normal aerosol can and has a long thin peice of plastic that sits on the end.  I think the can only has air inside it, and you spray the can and it forces the dust out of the machine.  I don’t use it a lot myself because then I have to clean up the mess that it makes by putting all the fluff outside the machine.

Happy sewing
