I am petite, so I usually take my clothing to a tailor for (costly!) alterations.  Using your instructions this time I decided to have a go at shortening the sleeves on a lined jacket myself. Well it took a while, but thanks to your excellent diagrams and directions, I did it!  Thankyou!  I will now have the confidence to try other alterations too.  Vanessa, United States  February 2010 It cost Vanessa AUD$12.95 to purchase ebook eB101 Shorten sleeves on a lined jacket

Just a note to let you know that the book arrived a couple of days ago.  I have read half of it so far and love it.  I have been sewing for years and this is the most help I have ever had with alterations.  I am losing weight and this should help me to be able to alter and keep some of my favorite clothes.  Easy to understand and helpful.  Thank you for making it available to us.  Pauline Fredriks,  United States September 2009

Good morning Judith - my book has arrived! it came via our postman 10 minutes ago.  I obviously haven't had a chance to use the information, but from a quick look I can see already how useful it is going to be for me.  As my weight does fluctuate with my meds, I can at least get a couple of seasons out of each outfit now.  The drawings are nice and clear and plenty of them, thank you for the effort you have gone to.  All the best, Suze from France

Hi Judith,

Just to let you know my book has arrived safely in Scotland - thank you so much.  It's fantastic, no wonder it took you years to put it together!!  I already do quite a lot of alterations for friends, but its always been more by good luck than knowledge that they seem to have worked, so this will give me loads more confidence to try all sorts of things in the future.  I've often considered doing alterations as a small business, but dismissed the idea as I've never been taught how to do it properly, so maybe you've set me off on a new career path...
Thanks again,  kind regards, Jen from Scotland.

Hi Judith

I received your book a couple of weeks ago. The information is just what I have been looking for.  The best part for me is taking clothes in as I have been losing weight through Jenny Craig and I don't want to have to buy new clothes till I get to my desired weight.  During the school holidays I will also be teaching my 13 year old daughter to sew which is very exciting for both of us. Than k you very much.  Another Judith from Australia

Hi Judith, Your book came yesterday.  What an amazing amount of information!  I have been going thru it and am so impressed with the thought and work you have put into it.  Thank you so much!  I know it's going to help me more than I ever realised.  Skip Lindstrom, United States

Suzanne sent me this email and I want to share it with you all.... Judith

Judith, I had to laugh when I read your Alterations Newsletter this morning about checking the R and L panels on garments.  Many years ago I worked in a very small dress factory for a local designer.  My job one day was to pair up skirts with bodices.  When I got to the last one I had a skirt that was one size and a bodice that was another which in turn had sleeves attached that were a third size.  Since the contractor who ran the shop was paid by the piece, I was told to just put them together.  I did what I was told but I still wonder who might have gotten stuck with that dress.  You are right, I think it happens more than any of us are aware of.  Suzanne, United States

Hi Judith, I was very excited to receive my book today.  I was extremely surprised to receive the book in only two days, it was wrapped so well not a mark on it.  After a quick look I feel the need to alter something.  I have lost a lot of confidence in my sewing ability over the last few years, after not sewing for some time and this book is just the thing I need to regain it.  I thank you once again for sending the book off to me so quickly.  I will have no hesitation in recommending this book to friends.  Wishing you all the best, Regards, Cheryl, Australia. July 2009
